Uncorked is officially one year old! We’ve been tasting and sharing wine with our community for a year now, and it’s been so much fun sharing our opinion and highlighting new wines for you to try! We’ve shared our personal stories and travels, we’ve shared the wine, and we’ve shared the stories from the wine and vineyards with you. It’s been a great year!

Before we go too much further, we want to yell THANK YOU to everyone who has watched our videos, commented on our socials, and shared our videos and stories. You are the best!! Cheers to you. You’ve been with us for a year too, and we couldn’t thank you enough for listening to us ~wine about it~. We hope we gave you enough information to help you find a bottle you love.

The stories of taking a grape to the bottle have always been what inspires us to keep Uncorked going and the passion behind what we do. In our own words, we want to share what this past year has been to us:

Tara: Uncorked has been one of the best things to come out of COVID for me. I always love spending time with Shannon, so having something that turns our fun wine nights and vineyard visits into something we can share with others is even better. I think both of us have learned a lot from this whole experience: we’ve learned so much about social media, refined our video editing skills, content planning, event planning, and more throughout this journey. But we’ve also changed our wine palates and expanded our view of what wines we really enjoy, as well as learned so much about wine and winemaking in general. The vineyards that we’ve visited have all taught us something unique, and to be able to learn that with one of my closest friends is so great! I am so amazed at how each winery makes the winemaking process unique to them by putting their own spin on a varietal, blend, or vineyard experience. The wine community is truly something magical and inviting, and there’s a glass for everyone at the table as long as you are open to learning new things. It’s the best, and I am so excited to continue to bring new wines, wineries, and more to your attention so you can hold up a glass at the table too.

Shannon: Uncorked has been such an amazing journey so far. I have learned so much about wine that I never knew before. In one year we have accomplished so much. Tara and I got to connect with Layla Joy from Spain who saw all our videos and wanted us to give her wine brand, IYLIA, a try and review. We also got to work with a wine brand called Wine Insiders, where we tried different wines from around the world. We grew in our wine knowledge and learned a lot about launching a brand. One thing that shocked me was that location and soil can really impact the wine. One of the wineries we visited in Maryland, puts wood pellets in the soil to provide a unique taste and story behind their wine. My wine palate has changed dramatically from sweet wines to dry rose'. We found a few winery gems and personal favorites including Big Cork Vineyards in MD, Salted Vines in DE, and Potomac Point Vineyards and Winery in VA.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful business partner and friend to jump into the unknown in telling each story behind the wines and wineries. I also want to thank our husbands who drive us to all the wineries, give us very honest feedback (especially when it comes to wine), and encourage us each and every day.

We want to thank you all for taking this adventure with us and tuning in each week. We hope you continue on this journey with us. It truly means the world to us!

Cheers,

Shannon & Tara
